Lending Paws A Hand, Inc. (LPAH) is a 501(c)(3) volunteer-run, nonprofit animal rescue dedicated to helping at-risk and homeless animals throughout Lee County, North Carolina, and surrounding communities. LPAH is a foster-based rescue, which means our dogs and cats live in loving foster homes while they receive the care, attention, and love they need to find their forever families. Every animal deserves a second chance. With the help of our fosters, volunteers, adopters, donors, and supporters, we work every day to make those second chances possible.

Foster
Foster families make rescue possible. By opening your home to an animal in need, you give them a safe place to heal, grow, and prepare for a loving forever home.
Volunteer
There are many ways to make a difference. Whether you’re helping at an event, transporting animals, or working behind the scenes, your time can make a lasting impact.
Support
Rescue takes a community. Donations help provide food, veterinary care, supplies, and other necessities our foster animals need.
Continuing Mary's Legacy
LPAH was built on compassion, determination, and an unwavering commitment to animals in need. We are committed to carrying that mission forward and continuing the work that Mary and Ed Ashburn worked so hard to build. The best way we can honor Mary’s legacy is to keep helping the animals she cared so deeply about — one animal, one foster home, and one forever family at a time.

TAILS ON TRAILS
Not ready to adopt or foster but still want to spend time with a dog? Tails on Trails gives our foster dogs the opportunity to get out, enjoy some one-on-one time, experience new surroundings, and show off their personalities — all while giving people in our community a chance to get to know them. It’s good for the dogs, good for the people, and a wonderful way to support rescue.
